Vozeći se automobilom opustelom cestom jedne olujne noći, studentkinja Michelle Mancini (N. Gregson Wagner) odluči zaustaviti se i na benzinskoj pumpi natočiti gorivo. Kad ju mucavi prodavač (B. Dourif) agresivno pokuša zaustaviti i nagovoriti da ne nastavi vožnju, Michelle jedva uspe pobeći. Ne zna, međutim, da ju je uzbuđeni čovek samo želio upozoriti da se na stražnjem sedalu njezina automobila krije maskirana osoba naoružana sekirom, te da će ubrzo postati prva žrtva okrutnog serijskog ubojice
